英语语法教学是英语教学中的一种,并在英语教学中占有举足轻重的作用。语法是构建语言的框架,是语言不可缺少的组成部分。说课在近年来教招英语面试考试中,出现的频率也越来越高,可测出考生的教学设计能力和英语知识功底。因此设计好一堂语法课是考生在面试中取得成功的第一步。本篇以牛津版初二上学期Unit 7 Seasons语法课为例进行教学设计,该课以四季为背景,贴近学生的生活进行生动的教学,旨在让学生能正确表达想法、传递信息、进行交际。
Greeting:
Good morning, my dear judges! I’m No.1. It’s my great honor to have this opportunity to share my lesson with you. Today my topic is “Unit 7 Seasons”. And my presentation consists of the following parts:
1 Analysis of teaching materials
This lesson I am going to talk about is from part C of Unit 7 in the first semester of grade 8, Oxford Shanghai Edition, the grammar part. And the main content of this lesson is about the beautiful scenery of different seasons. Through this lesson, students can get familiar with the five basic sentence structures. Meanwhile, their writing and speaking ability will be improved.
2 Analysis of students
English grammar is difficult but useful for my students, while they have grasped some related sentences in Grade 8. It could be not hard for them to identify different parts of a sentence and five basic sentence structures.
3 Analysis of teaching aims
According to the new English curriculum standard, the teaching materials and the present situation of my students. I set the three-dimensional aims as follows:
Knowledge aims:
Students will be able to know three types of verbs, intransitive verb(vi.), transitive verb (vt.) and linking verbs(linking v.)
Students will be able to identify different parts of a sentence and five basic sentence structures.
Ability aims:
Students can use the five basic sentence structures to write a short passage correctly and to describe something in their daily life appropriately.
Emotional aims:
Students will enjoy the beautiful scenery of different seasons.
4 Analysis of teaching key points and difficult points
Key points:
Students can get familiar with the types of verbs and five basic sentence structures.
Difficult Point:
Students can use five basic sentence structures to write some sentences or short passage and describe something in daily life. .
5 Analysis of teaching methods and learning methods
To help students achieve the teaching aims much better and easier, I’ll mainly use “ Task-based teaching method”and “Communicative language teaching method”as teaching methods. As for the study methods, encourage students to find the sentence structure by themselves and as well as accept five basic sentence structures based on the meaningful learning not accept them mechanically.
6 Analysis of teaching aids
To interest my students, I will use pictures, PPT and multimedia as my teaching aids.
7 Analysis of teaching procedures
This is the most important part in this design, which can be divided into following steps:
Step 1 Warming-up
After greeting, play a song:We wish you a merry Christmas. May be they will very familiar with the song. Last class we have learned the reading part and the listening part about the difficult seasons. So I will ask my students, do you know how to identify different parts of the sentence - We wish you a merry Christmas. Maybe this question is a little difficult for my students to answer. So most of them will shake their heads. Then I will tell them don’t worry. Today we will study the grammar part about five basic sentence structures.
In this way, I can naturally lead the topic of “five basic sentence structures” and students’ interest can be well aroused.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Three types of verbs
Firstly, I will present three different sentences on the blackboard, then ask my students to discuss in groups to find the difference and I will make a summary for them. Through this way, present the three types of verbs.
I jump. Jump vi. ( A intransitive verb does not take an object.)
‚I love you. Love vt. ( A transitive verb takes an object.)
ƒYou are my sunshine. Are-linking verb ( A linking verb links the subject and the adjective phrase or noun phrase that describe it.)
2. Five basic sentence structures
And then I will present five different sentences including the grammar point on the blackboard, then ask students to discuss in groups to find the rules of the basic sentence structures and invite some of them to share their opinions. At last, I will make a summary with my students and tell them the right answer to identify the different parts of sentences.
Present1:The temperature drops.
S V
This sentence only include subject and verb. I will tell my students that this kind of verb does not take an object. We name those verbs as intransitive verbs. So the structure of this sentence is S+V.
Present2:I love autumn.
S V O
This sentence include subject, verb and object. I will tell my students that this kind of verb takes an object. We name those verbs as transitive verbs. So the structure of this sentence is S+V+O.
Present3:The sing of birds sounds beautiful.
S V P
This sentence include subject, verb and predicative. I will tell my students that this kind of verb links the subject and the adjective phrase or noun phrase that describe it.We name those verbs as linking verbs. So the structure of this sentence is S+V+P.
Present4:Eddie is watching Hobo work.
S V DO OC
This sentence include subject, verb, direct object and object complement. The complement can also follow a direct to rename or describe it. In this case, it is called the object complement. So the structure of this sentence is S+V+DO+OC.
Present5:Hobo brought Eddie his clothes. Hobo brought his clothes to/for Eddie.
S V IO DO
This sentence include subject, verb, indirect object and direct object. So the structure of this sentence is S+V+IO+DO. I will tell my students a way which can distinguish the structure of S+V+IO+DO from the structure of S+V+IO+DO. The way is that we can change the structure S+V+IO+DO with to/for. For example:
Hobo brought his clothes to/for Eddie.
Step 3 Practice
In this part, invite some students to write the answers on the blackboard and let them give reasons.
Exercise 1:Identify different parts of a sentence.
We wish you a merry Christmas.
Exercise 2:Identify the sentence structures.
We have four seasons. __________
‚Spring is warm and sunny. __________
ƒAutumn arrive. __________
Through those two exercises, students can analyze the sentence patterns by themselves and reinforce those knowledge what we have learned today.
Step 4 Production
I will divide my students in group of four. And give them ten minutes to discuss the following questions.
Q1:Which is your favorite seasons?
Q2:Why do you like it?
Q3:What do you do in that season?
And give them an example. My favourite season is summer. I like summer because it's a season of enthusiasm. And we can go swimming in summer.
In this part, students can consolidate the sentence structures they’ve learned in this class by expressing their own opinions. Moreover, this discussion can improve students’ speaking abilities and achieve students’ emotional aims to increase their interest in nature and to be willing to cooperate with others .
Step 5 Summary and homework
After all the activities I will invite one student to summarize what we have learned today.
Then I assign the homework which is to search some information about compound sentence and to find out the difference between compound sentence and five basic sentence structures. Write them down on their notebooks and invite some students to share with the whole class in the next class.
In this part, through summary this course, my students will review the whole class to reinforce their memory. This homework will let students to think by themselves. And I believe they will try their best to make a contrast between compound sentence and five basic sentence structures. Through this way they will really understand how to study.
8. Blackboard design
Well, at last, let’s focus on the last part of my design --- blackboard design.
The main information is demonstrated on the blackboard and its logic is clear.
